Prawns Pulao



  • Prawns: 10-15 nos
  • Basmati rice: 1 cup
  • Onion: 1 big
  • Tomatoes: 1 big
  • Cloves: 3-4
  • Black peppercorn: 5-6
  • Cinnamon: 1 small stick
  • Bay leaf: 1
  • Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste: 2
  • Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder: 1 tsp
  • Turmeric: 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice: 1 tsp
  • Oil: 2 tsp
  • Salt: as per taste
  • Coriander powder: for garnish


Marinate prawns with salt lemon juice and turmeric for 15-20 mins.Soak basmati rice for 30 mins

Heat a kadhai and add oil, Once oil is hot add cumin seeds, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon stick and bay leaf.IMG_20170712_120542

Add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes. add onions and cook till translucent.

Add tomatoes, chilli powder, garam masala powder and cook for 2 mins.IMG_20170712_121057

Add prawns and salt and mix well. cook for 3 mins and then add coriander leaves.

Add rice and  1 & 1/2 cup of water to rice and mix. check salt and adjust the taste.

Cook rice for 4-5 min on medium to high flame then open the lid mix the rice and then cook the rice for more 10-15 min on low flame.IMG_20170712_122235

Serve hot with raita or green salad.
